Pre-Work Safety Checklist
All items must be verified before hot work begins. Per NFPA 51B and OSHA 1910.252.
Combustible materials cleared or protected within 35 feet of hot work area(NFPA 51B Β§7.3)
Trained fire watch person assigned and present with no other duties(OSHA 1910.252(a)(2)(iii))
Fire extinguisher (min. 2A:10B:C) present and verified at work location(NFPA 51B Β§7.2.3)
Automatic sprinkler system operational in the area(NFPA 51B Β§7.2.1)
Smoke/heat detector coverage verified β detectors shielded or placed on bypass with notification(NFPA 72 Β§14.2.1)
Floor openings within 35 feet are covered or guarded(NFPA 51B Β§7.3.2)
Wall and ceiling openings/penetrations within 35 feet are protected(NFPA 51B Β§7.3.3)
Adequate ventilation provided for the work area(OSHA 1910.252(c))
Confined space entry procedures followed (if applicable)(OSHA 1910.146)
Operator wearing required PPE (welding helmet, gloves, fire-resistant clothing)(OSHA 1910.252(b))
